Synopsis: | "Peggy Su!" is a romantic comedy set in Liverpool in 1962. Peggy is 19 and has recently come from Hong Kong to live and work in the traditional Chinese laundry run by her brother Jack and his white English wife Rita. Peggy and Jack's widowed father writes from Hong Kong to announce not only that he has taken a new wife, but also that he has chosen a husband for Peggy - her cousin Gilbert. But Peggy is determined to marry for love and sets out on a race against time to find her ideal man. When Gilbert arrives and turns out to be a complete disaster, Peggy's determination to find 'her earth for her heaven' brings her into serious conflict with her father. | |
