Synopsis: | Reggae music is at the core of a black community in Peckham, South London. Buckey Ranks, a reggae singer, is followed by two men who want to kill him. Buckey and his friends respond with non-violence as they do not want to get involved with the police. Music is their life, and they refuse to be harassed by two trouble-makers. The film also focusses on female singers and musicians who also want to participate in the local sound systems culture. Director Julian Henriques elaborates on the latter theme in his feature film "Babymother". | |
