| Synopsis: | John Akomfrah re-traces the steps of the writer J.B. Priestley who came to Liverpool in 1933. On his journey through England, Priestley discovered a 'new England', an England which included one of the largest mixed-race communities in Liverpool. Akomfrah talks to mixed-race families who lived in this multi-cultural community during the 1930s. The film also investigates what it means for mixed-race children to be both black and British in contemporary society. | |
