| Synopsis: | Interview with cultural critic, novelist and media practitioner Mike Phillips. Philips, who was born in Guyana and came to England in 1956, was a founding member of the Black Media Workers' Association which came into existence in 1980. Mike Phillips established himself as a literary writer in 1987 and wrote an award-winning tetralogy of novels featuring Sam Dean, a black journalist-detective. In 1998, Mike and his brother Trevor Phillips wrote and produced the successful four-part BBC television series "Windrush" which traces the story of West Indian migration since the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush in 1948. | |
