Synopsis:The "Black and White in Colour Conference", held in November 1992, continued where Isaac Julien's documentary programmes of the same name left off. The conference, sub-titled "Prospects of British Intervention in British TV and Film", posed the question: 'Where do we go from here?' It brought together major television controllers, black programme and filmmakers and key decision makers from film and television institutions. "Remote Control" presents a summary of the topics discussed at the conference and an overview of some of the main shifts that took place in this sector in the early 1990s. Paul Gilroy, Stuart Hall, Mike Phillips, Isaac Julien and Lola Young present their views on some of the critical dilemmas to be confronted as film and television move toward the 21st century.
