Synopsis: | The editors planned and organised the first European Television and Immigration conference/festival, held in Paris in June 1992. Their book continues the debate launched at the conference and is divided into two complementary parts. The first section presents interpretations and perspectives by researchers and producers. The second part provides an inventory of television programmes produced and broadcast by channels in 15 European countries (including the UK, pp. 253-277). The book also offers brief sketches of immigration history and programming in each country, whith a glance at the general broadcasting scene and policies of the individual channels. | |
